Certified Lightning Protection from Eldon and Sons

Eldon & Sons can Protect you from Lightning Disaster

A Lightning Protection system when properly installed accomplishes two objectives:
It shields a home and provides a direct path to the ground for electrical current to flow.
It prevents damage to the home as the current flows through the system.

Thunderstorms result from the powerful clash between cold and warm weather air masses. As varying charges of positive and negative energy build up preceding and during a storm, the result is a discharge of negative energy sent rushing to the ground.

The flash, which occurs as a closed circuit, is formed from earth to sky. As downward forces or strokes rush toward the earth, positive strokes from edges of buildings, chimneys, and trees strain up to meet them.

A lighting protection system is designed to control or force the discharge on a specified path, thereby eliminating the chance of fire or explosion within non-conductive parts to the house such as those made of wood, brick, tile, etc. A lightning protection system does not prevent a strike, but provides a safe path on which the current can safely be directed to the ground.

Most importantly, a lightning protection system will NOT attract a bolt of lightning.

Each year thousands of homes and other properties are destroyed or damaged by lightning strikes. Unprotected homes risk the possibility of damage by fire, explosions or electrical surges. Personal injury frequently occurs in an unprotected house which has been struck. The effects of such a strike may be both physically and emotionally devastating.

A lightning protection system of proper materials, correctly installed according to the best protective science, will guard your family for the lifetime of the house when properly maintained. An improper system or a system that is not properly installed may not protect your home, it may even contribute to the loss of the house if it is struck. Therefore, it is very important that you contact a professional, qualified to design and install a certified lightning protection system uniquely special to your home.

When choosing a system and contractor for lightning protection, it is important that the individual--as well as the system--be certified. The Lightning Protection Institute (LPI), Arlington Heights, Ill., was established in 1955. It is a national not-for-profit organization that endorses official training programs and the certification of professionals and systems.
Headquarters now located in Maryville, Missouri.

At Eldon & Sons, we have been installing lightning protection systems in the Kansas City area since 1970. We are, in fact, certified by the Lightning Protection Institute which guarantees that specific national codes, such as those set forth by the National Fire Protection Association Code 780, and Underwriter's Laboratories UL96A have been met, and quality testing has determined the system to by safe. So you can rest assured that your system will provide you with the best protection possible.

Have you noticed LEAKY BASEMENT? CRACKED FOUNDATION? NOISY DRIPS? - It May Be Your Guttering System

If you have a problem with water anywhere around your house, your gutters could be the problem. Gutters that are old or made of steel, will eventually rust, chip, peel, sag, leak, and rot. Not to mention all the painting and repainting you will have to do to try to keep it looking nice.

Seamless aluminum gutter from Eldon & Sons has proven to be the most effective against all of these characteristics. Our guttering is guaranteed for 20 years against chipping, peeling, or rusting. It comes with a baked on enamel finish that keeps each of our 21 different colors looking fresh and beautiful for years.
